Founded in 1924, Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation has been an industry leader in developing innovative and reliable power tools. The Sawzall reciprocating saw was first introduced in 1951 and revolutionized the power tool industry as the first portable electric hacksaw. Known for its powerful and versatile reciprocating blade, the Sawzall reciprocating saw quickly became an essential and versatile tool in construction, demolition, plumbing, and electrical work.

40 years later in 1991, Milwaukee unveiled the Super Sawzall reciprocating saw. The Super Sawzall reciprocating saw was a huge update in the world of portable reciprocating saws, having a built-in counterbalance to decrease vibrations and a gear-protecting clutch to further increase durability and speed.

In 2007, the company unveiled the next iteration of reciprocating saws: the Hackzall reciprocating saw. The Hackzall reciprocating saw was designed to be a smaller and more lightweight reciprocating saw and was built for one-handed use, compared to the Sawzall and Supersawzall reciprocating saws that both required two hands for operation.
