Brief (and likely incomplete) History [1]:
In 1967, Fiskars created the first plastic-handled scissors. But why did they make the plastic handles orange? Well, according to Fiskars it was merely random. The machinist for the prototype plastic handles decided to finish off the orange color he already had in his machine before then creating the plastic handles in the previously agreed to colors of black, red, and green. The orange color was an immediate hit and after an internal vote the decision was made to move forward with the orange plastic handles. The color, Fiskars Orange, was officially registered as a trademark in Finland in 2003 and in the US 2007. Today, over 1 billion orange-handled scissors have been sold around the world.
