Brief (and likely incomplete) History [3]:
The DoALL company was founded in 1927, when Illinois inventor Leighton A. Wilkie built one of the world’s first metal-cutting band saws and launched a company that would quietly reshape industrial cutting. Wilkie didn’t just make saws; he pioneered an entire ecosystem around them, introducing innovations like the first band-saw welder and setting the stage for the modern contour-cutting shop. As American manufacturing boomed, DoALL became the go-to name for tough, reliable saws that could handle whatever steelworkers, machinists, and tool-and-die shops threw at them. Nearly a century later, the brand still reflects Wilkie’s original ethos: build machines that do all (hence the company name) the cutting jobs and keep pushing the boundaries of what a band saw can do.
As popular as the band saws have become, the product packaging for the band saw blades is just as well known and unique. The DoALL Packaging Shape mark protects the “novel or unique shape of the container in which the goods are packaged, and which may be described as a flat, square case or box with round corners.” The DoALL Packaging Shape mark is an important piece of trademark history. It is one of the oldest, still registered shape mark non-traditional trademark registration in the US!
